The Light of Learning is an updated selection of writings on education that encompass more than five decades of work by Buddhist philosopher and founder of the Soka Schools system, President Daisaku Ikeda (1918-2023). The establishment of a system of education that would bring happiness to the individual and thus peace to the world was President Ikeda’s final, crowning endeavour. These writings, drawn from President Ikeda’s life’s work on education – spanning his educational proposals, university lectures and personal essays – convey how education that fosters a life of value creation (SOKA) has the power to ring in unprecedented transformation to the world and its future.
